Testing! Testing! Again! 😋 After giving the Michelin Wild Run'r tyres a fair go last week, I found them to be too slow for my liking, upto 20mph they were ok but over that and trying to cruise along at 30mph was a real struggle compared to my Durano's. So after much searching for a larger tyre that would fit between my narrow 46mm seat stays I have had to go for the Schwalbe Kojak's. I would have liked to give the Compass Naches Pass a go but at 44mm they would have probably caused problems 😿 The Kojak's are supposed to be 35mm but they measure up at an actual size of 32x32mm which is rather disappointing as the Michelin sized also at 35mm came in at 36x36mm. A problem I came across with the Kojak's was that I could not inflate them onto the rim with the largest volume track pump I have, so being inventive I came up with a home brew, air shot tubeless inflator, I had an old pressure vessel from my old works, and some spare fittings from my composites vacuum set up. I pumped this up to 90psi and opened the valve, and 💨 pop! The tyre was on and up. Well that saved me £50.00 for a shop bought air shot bottle 💰😋 The two kojak tyres I bought seem to be from different batches also, as the side walls of one are clearly thicker that the other, and the thinner one is porous, this took a while to seal up properly but the Stan's liquid has done a great job of making the tyre airtight. Fingers crossed these Kojak's are as easy rolling as my Durano's or more so, and hopefully more or less as comfortable as the Michelin's were. Roll on the weekend for a test ride! #stansnotubes #tubeless #gaia2 #gaia #laidbackcyclist #recumbent #recumbentbike #ligfiets #liegerad #velocouche #knottybear #testing #bicycle #cycling #londoncycling #laidbacklondon #mavic #schwalbekojak #schwalbe #notubes #airshot
